僕は両親と５歳上の兄とともに、バングラデッシュのナトラという小さな町で生まれ育ちました。エンジニアによくある「小さな頃から機械好きな子供」では全くなく（笑）高校を卒業するまでは、英文学やフットボールにクリケットが大好きな子供でした。大学で何を専攻しようか悩んでいた僕に、建築エンジニアをしている兄がコンピューターサイエンスを勧めてくれたのがきっかけで、エンジニアの道へと一歩を踏み出しました。

いざ勉強し始めると、自分でも驚くほど夢中になり、それ以来僕の心と頭はプログラミング一色となりました。特に競い合うプログラミングゲームは当時から今も続く僕の唯一といっても過言ではない趣味と情熱になりました。

大学内外で開催されるプログラミングコンテストや世界中の学生が集まり競い合うコンテストに多数参戦し、大学時代はまさにプログラミング一色！ほとんどの時間をウェブのプログラミングやコンテスト、また大学内のプログラミングクラブのメンターとして、コンテストの普及活動や指導を行ってきました。

小さな町から、世界へ

卒業が近づき将来を考えたとき、僕が求めたことは「大きな企業」もしくは「海外」で働くこと。海外の企業が集まる就職フェアに参加し出会ったのが、日本から来ていたteamLab社でした。1,000人を超える応募者の中から、試験面接に呼ばれたのは25人。その中から最終的に選ばれたのは僕を含んだ3人だけでした。来日する4-5か月前から日本語の勉強を始め、2017年についに日本へ降り立ちました。

初めて経験する海外、日本は驚きの連続でした。中でも一番驚いたのは、ひどい渋滞や車のクラクションの音が聞こえないこと！そして信号できちんと立ち止まる礼儀正しい人々を見たことでした（笑）僕の国では経験したことのない景色です。

teamLab社ではソフトウェアエンジニアとして、10名のチームの中フロントとバックエンドの両方を担当。僕のように海外からきた仲間も多く、新しいテクノロジーも常に学べてとても良い経験でした。一方で、社内のコミュニケーションツールは基本日本語。ミーティングもほぼ日本語で行われたため、なかなか意見が言えない歯がゆさに悩まされました。自分がこの先一歩上のエンジニアになる上で、言語が足かせになってしまうと感じ、より多様性に富んだ環境を望むようになりました。結果２年という時を経て、国際的な会社でチャレンジするために転職を決意しました。

TakeMeとの出会い

幾つかの企業と面接をしましたが、その中で出会った日本美食（現TakeMe）の面接方法は他とまるで違い、表面だけではない本当の僕自身を見てくれていると感じました。それと同時にTakeMeのペイメントプロダクトとテクノロジースタックに魅了されて、入社することを決意しました。

現在は、主に支払いシステムに関連する機能構築や改善業務を担当しています。クライアントに毎日使っていただくシステムを開発できることはとてつもないやりがいに繫がり、５年後はインフラの知識や大きな規模のプロジェクトに関わるフルスタックシニアエンジニアになっていたいと思っています。お互いを尊重し、助け合うTakeMeカルチャーが大好きです。僕の個人的な意見となりますが、仕事の満足度は給与額に直結しているのではなく、愛、尊敬、そして優秀であることがより重要だと思うのです。そしてこれを実現するTakeMeが僕は大好きなのです。

そして、母国のために

仕事外では母国バングラデシュの農村開発プロジェクトに携わっています。最近では「コーディングを学び、稼ぐ」をモットーに掲げた、誰でもが自由にプログラミングを学び、コンテストに参加し、賞金を得るチャンスを与えるウェブサイトを制作運営しています。これは大学時代に思い描いていた夢であり、今それを現実にしていることがこの上ない幸せです。

また、プライベートでは大学時代に出会った妻と最近結婚をしました。コロナが１日も早く落ち着き、彼女が日本へやってこられる日を心待ちにしています。家族としても、エンジニアとしても一回りもふたまわりも成長できるよう日々頑張っています！

I was born and raised in a small town called Natore in Bangladesh with parents and a 5 year elder brother.

When I was small, I was not a typical “loving mechanic child.” In fact, until I graduate high school, I had zero interest in engineering but in English literature, and also loved Football and Cricket so much.

In my senior year at high school, I started thinking about my future then my elder brother who was a civil engineer recommended me to pursue majoring in computer science at university. Surprisingly I fell in love with programming and engineering soon after I started, and my one and only hobby became “Competitive Programming.” which still is my biggest passion.

I attended many computer programming competitions not only within my university but also world biggest international programming contests (ICPC) regionally as well. I spent most of my time at programming websites, competing at online contests, and also became a mentor at a programming club to teach and enrich programming contest culture. The happiest day in my life was when in 2013 my team made my university to be selected as the best in a State for the first time based on ICPC regional ranking.

From a small town to WORLD!

When started thinking of future career in my senior year at university, I was clear that I always wanted to work in some big tech companies in my country and/or work in abroad. I attended a job fair and there I met teamLab from Japan. Only 25 people out of 1000 applicants were invited for a skill test and interview, then I was chosen as one of the only 3 finalists! They offered us a Japanese class in Dhaka 4-5 months prior to coming to Japan and finally in 2017, I arrived in Tokyo.

I was surprised there was no traffic jam nor honking in the city! And yes, Japanese people were so polite waiting at crossing which never is the case in my country! And of course, because of the safety in living here, I love working in Japan.

As a software engineer at teamLab, I covered both front and back-end engineering with the team of 10. There were many engineers like me who came from other countries, so I enjoyed working with them and learning new technology.  However, since all the meetings and communications with local staffs were conducted in Japanese so that became my big restriction to be a higher-level engineer in that company. I started seeking for more diversity in the work environment, therefore after 2 years of working at teamLab, I decided to take a new life challenge in more international environment.

and I met TakeMe

I interviewed with several companies, but JapanFoodie (now TakeMe) was something clearly different from others. The way they interviewed and tested my technical skills was unique and I felt they are not looking at my surface but my inside, and their payment product and tech stack caught my attention. Therefore, I decided to join TakeMe.

Now as a software engineer, I am mainly responsible for tool creation and programming/maintaining financing payout system. I am fascinated by the fact that I create something which is used everyday and influencing users’ life style.

 Also, I love the TakeMe culture which people respect and help each other. In my opinion, at the end of the day the job satisfaction is not directly connected to the salary, but more importantly connected to other key factors like Love, Respect & Excellent that I found in TakeMe. I’m happy and excited to be a part of them.

My passion being an engineer is to create something that will make our life better and in 5 years I would like to become a fullstack senior engineer with infrastructure knowledge and contribute to large scale projects.

for my mother country…

Outside of my work, I’m also involved in some rural-development projects in my country. Recently, I am working on building website for encouraging people to get into programming where the motto is “Learn and earn from coding”. So, anyone can learn and earn money by attending in programming contests organized by the site. I had this goal from my university life and I’m super excited and can’t wait to fulfill it.

In my private life, I recently married to a lady whom I met in university time and waiting for her to come to Japan once Covid19 settle down. I am very much looking forward to building a family in Japan and developing as an engineer!
